Jacobsen Product Innovation Activities Recent History
Walking Greens Mowers:
Eclipse 100 Series
First hybrid walking greens mowers in the golf industry. Hybrid power reduces noise and decreases fuel consumption.
Computer controls enables Frequency of Clip (FOC) control. Provides enhanced quality-of-cut for better playing conditions and improved turf health.
On-board diagnostics improve troubleshooting and ease of maintenance.
Floating Head option improves contour following and provides more consistent height-of-cut (HOC).
LED lighting provides more light with less power.
500 Series and PGM
In-Command System allows for easier operation and less chance of turf damage with ergonomic handle control and centrifugal clutch.
Riding Greens Mowers:
Eclipse 322
First and only hybrid riding greens mower in the golf industry with zero hyraulics. Hybrid Power reduces noise and decreases fuel consumption.
Computer controls enable Frequency of Clip (FOC) control. Provides enhanced quality-of-cut for better playing conditions and improved turf health.
On-board diagnostics (OBD) improve troubleshooting and ease of maintenance.
First Greens Mower in the industry to use CAN communication. This feature
enhances OBD.
LED lighting provides more light with less power.
Trim Mowers:
AR-3 and TR-3
In 2007, introduced the wet brake system as a sealed system requiring no periodic maintenance. Cables are eliminated and therefore no adjustment or
service is required. The brakes are "fail safe" so they are on when vehicle is off or loses power providing additional safety.
"Combi" gauge combines the fuel level, hours and maintenance intervals in one gauge.
Trim-Tek Deck (AR-3) is a mulching deck with higher capacity. This means it can perform well in tough conditions (higher grass) and produce a more finished
clump-free appearance. The system is highly efficient so it uses less power and less fuel.
Fairway Mowers:
LF Series
Integrated (Marlin) controller introduced in 2006 provides the customer with on- board diagnostics easing troubleshooting and service. Reliability is increased with the elimination of numerous relays and switches.
Improved reliability and interlock controls by replacing Reed switches with Mil-spec proximity sensors.
Replaced fiber glass hood with ABS plastic for improved durability and appearance. The hood is now lighter, resilient and more color-fast.
Side by Side Radiator/Hydraulic cooler eliminates "Piggy Back" style cooling package for more efficient cooling of fluids.
Quick floor board removal for enhanced service and cleaning.
LF Refresh (Fall 2010)
Expanded on-board diagnostics with LCD read-out, improves troubleshooting,
operator warning, and provides input for programming interface.
Electronically controlled hydro pump allows superintendant to set maximum mow and transport speeds as appropriate for operator or conditions. This allows the customer to control the frequency of clip (FOC) which provides consistent
quality-of-cut and playing conditions. Electronic controls also smooth vehicle
acceleration reducing the chance of turf-damaging wheel spin. This feature also provides the operator with "lighter pedal effort" for increased comfort.
The wet brake system is a sealed system which requires no periodic maintenance. Cables are eliminated and therefore no adjustment or service is required. The brakes are "fail safe" so they are on when vehicle is off or loses power.
Expanded use of "hard" hydraulic lines which provide more durable fluid
management system, improves the serviceability of the unit and eases visual
inspection of normal wear points. Components have been commonized, reducing the number of parts to stock and easing replacement of parts.
Improved four-wheel drive system provides better traction in slippery
conditions and helps minimize turf damage by reducing tire spin.
Fresh styling with "new" cover design.
New operator platform with Eclipse-style vehicle controls ideally located for improved ergonomics and comfort.
Rotary Mowers:
AR-522
Trim-Tek Deck is a mulching deck with higher capacity. This means it can perform well in tough conditions (higher grass) and produce a more finished, clump-free
appearance. The system is highly efficient so it uses less power and less fuel.
Matching wheel speeds improves traction.
R-311
New engine provides more power for the toughest conditions and puts Jacobsen in strong competitive position for bid packages.
Spacious operator platform with improved ergonomics leads to greater operator comfort and standard air-suspension seat.
Operator storage compartment provides the customer with a convenient area to carry miscellaneous items.
Higher capacity parking brakes provides increased holding power and reduced
service requirements (will wear less.)
Improved serviceability of decks with bolt on height-of-cut (HOC) brackets are easier to replace for longer deck life.
Heavier duty deck lift system improves life and reduces service needs.
Limited slip differential provides increased traction without operator input
(eliminates the need for the operator to lock and unlock the differential.)
Ducted air management system improves cooling and extends engine life.
Renovation Products:
GroomMaster
Groom Master II (GMII), released in 2005, with improved styling.
Full-time 3 Wheel Drive. No valves to engage or disengage.
Aeration
DuraTines, released in 2009, provide the customer with longer lasting
tines and improved hole creation.
Heavy-Duty Cushan Truckster
New hood, released in 2010, with new styling, increased trunk space and greater durability.
Standard 4-post ROPS implemented in 2009 to comply with global safety
standards.
Parts:
MagKnife
MAG System allows for quicker changes to the bedknife, enabling easier
removal from the cutting unit as well as reduced set-up time for the grinding
operation.
Enhancements to the bedknife backing included a ground mounting surface
allowing for a flatter mounting area for the knife, providing improved consistency between components.
Extra holding power from rare eartg magnets for better bedknife retention.
Improved plating for reduced corrosion and improved wear resistance.
Classic XP Reels
CNC machined reels for tighter tolerances on run-out, steeper relief angle and a smoother finish. Leading to improved cut quality, longer reel life, and lower power consumption.
Groomers
Seven-inch groomer, launched in 2007, provides customers with the ability to groom turf with a standard seven-inch reel.
New five-inch groomer, released in 2009, removed the clutch mechanism and
improved the belt drive while increasing the durability of the unit by lessening the potential for the goomer to overload. The adjustment mechanism was also
updated, allowing for a more repeatable groomer depth setting and a more consistent result.
2010 planned improvements include changes to the belt-drive mechanism for improved sealing and durability. This feature will prevent debris intrusion and add life to the unit.
Roller-Brushes
Planned for release in 2010, the updated roller brush with a new helix
design and brush material will improve performance in wet, sticky conditions. An improved belt drive design will increase durability of the belt for longer life.
ROPS
Operator roll-over protective structures which meet ISO 21299 have been
implemented as standard equipment. This makes all Jacobsen products safer for operators.
Engine Regulatory Compliance Improvements
More environmentally sound engines have been installed or will be installed on diesel equipment over the next several years.
Evaporative emissions systems added on gasoline models.
New engines create more environmentally friendly machines.
DuraTines
Introduced in 2009, last as much as 75% longer than competitive equivalents.
Premium tines last four times longer than our original tines.
Standard on GA-24 Greens Aerators.
GreensCare Plus Biodegradable Oil
Introduced early in 2010.
Rated for 750 hours - equates to an improvement of 3 times the life in greens mowers.
50% improvement for fairway mowers and other units.
